Saladin saves Samse, and this salvation brings them closer together. Their joy is short-lived as they learn of the Byzantine fleet landing in Damietta. Saladin plans to stop the enemy's advance, with Sayra aiding him, while Sultan Nureddin decides to embark on an expedition to support Saladin. However, the enemy thwarts Nureddin's departure. The Crusader armies reach the gates of Cairo, leading to a surprising meeting between Saladin and King Amalric. Amalric, in collaboration with the Byzantine army, aims to reclaim Egypt. Meanwhile, in Jerusalem, Balian receives a sorrowful letter revealing Prince Baldwin has leprosy. As a king, Amalric prepares for war, but as a father, he is distressed by his son's illness. Baldwin's partial cure depends on Saladin, Hekim Latif. Amalric faces the challenge of reclaiming both Cairo and his son's future.
