During a heat wave, strange clouds start pouring down acid rain, wreaking devastation and panic throughout France. In a world teetering on the edge, a girl and her divorced parents must join forces to confront and try to escape this climate catastrophe.
Acid is, it would seem, another overlooked gem.
There's a ruthless honesty inherent in this film. Its an apocalyptic survivalist tale that pulls no punches. Its harsh in its treatment of the main and peripheral characters. Horrible things happen to nice, ordinary people, simply because that's precisely what does happen during a disaster. That's not to say there is not a thread of hope inherent in this film. The slim but strongly held hope, that sense of love for one another, off sets and balances, all then awful things that happen.
Acting is excellent, as are sets, environments and more. Its is all too believable and in no small way, unnerving.
In summary, I'm not a fan of survivalist disaster films, so for me to state that this production is well above average, is saying a lot. Indeed, this is a truly compelling, well paced watch, that you should give consideration to.
