The taxidermists look ike they've had great fun with this and does anyone else think the two humans had the facial features more of fish than people? (I actually think the mother looked a little like Bette Davis in "...Baby Jane"!). It's the son's birthday. He's a grown up man, with booze hidden all over the house, and is clearly unhappy with his lot in an house that wouldn't have looked out of place on the island of "Dr. Moreau". Then as he's cutting his mother's hair as she's watching a natural history programme on the television, he hits on a possible solution to his misery. Is it what we think, though? The stop motion animation here borders on the macabre and it's downright creepy as their house is almost alive with corpses. That very gruesomeness is quiet a testament to the skill and imagination of the animators who've created something ugly in just about every respect. As to that birthday dinner... Yuk!
