The film is filled with fun facts that show how cats make good pets, yet in other ways are wild and untamable.
THE LION IN YOUR LIVING ROOM discusses the biology, history, and evolution of cats. It explores why they behave the way they do, and how their relationship with humans has developed over the centuries. It also shows and discusses cats' relationships with other cats, and how they behave when "in the wild." Veterinarians and researchers discuss what they have uncovered in their experiments and findings. Misconceptions are put to rest, and even the future relationship of the continually changing relationship of cats with humans is speculated upon.
I found this documentary to be both informative and entertaining. There is a little bit of everything here, it seems. A little history of how cats became domesticated, information on their body language and vocalizing and how they interact with humans and other cats, the challenges of both indoor and outdoor cats, and more.
There is a variety of topics for a documentary of under an hour. So I am torn about wishing it were, longer, because maybe another half-hour would have caused it to drag a little. Even though I am more of a cat person, I was still surprised that cats are slightly more popular than dogs worldwide. The story behind the different breeds and colors surprised me also. And it was neat seeing the routes of outdoor cats who were tracked with collar devices. Anyway, great show for cat lovers.
