Berlin - techno, cobblestones and a lot of graffiti. "Berlin Recyclers" portraits the cultural, social and urban fabrics of this city by means of experimental animation. The viewer is guided to urban hideouts where little creatures dwell. These are digitally composed with collected trash and typical local products. The clatter of the limbs of these creatures interacts with the soundscapes of Berlin.
The beginning of this short feature looks a little like it's been inspired by "Batteries Not Included" (1987) as we travel the frequently quite imaginatively graffiti-covered streets of Berlin, accompanied by some techno and Romany organ music, discovering just how much junk we leave lying around. It's not so much the larger items, but the smaller ones that director Nikki Schuster uses to create other, animate, objects that don't serve any purpose as such, they are just quirky. One looks like it's made of old teeth! It's quite hard to describe this, but it's good fun for seven minutes and it does make you see a bit more when you look around.
