Beyond Paradise is a spin off, of the light hearted UK series, Death in Paradise.
It follows the same simple "who dunnit" formula with a key lead character from the original Caribbean based series, transplanted to rural British Devon.
Keeping to his original persona the character is a little eccentric and shambolic but also a rather brilliant detective, nonetheless.
For the most part this series works quite well as a UK Sunday night boredom buster. It lacks the exotic feel of the original series but the presence of the inherently likeable Detective Inspector, makes up for this, in large part.
The stories are predictable light crime fare with a mildly romantic back story to round things out. Regrettably, there's a dash of the usual woke codswallop, everyone is so so tired of but its no too over cooked, so this series remains reasonably watchable.
In summary not as vibrant as the original series it draws inspiration from but sill has enough on offer, to represent an entertaining crime romp. Worth a look.
