'I Love You Anne' is almost one I found to be satisfactory, but not quite. If I'm honest, there is only one part of it that I fully disliked: the dad. Daniel Fils Aimé overacts (his real life shtick, tbf) and the character is super irritating, the filmmakers don't even redeem Bicha's antics either.
The love story (if not fleshed out enough) infused with the criminality is actually fairly decent viewing. For my money, the film should've been directly about Anne, Don Kato and the two criminals. Alongside a smaller role for the dad, who actually should've been played by Fresnel Larosilière; a much more fitting father figure.
Speaking of the bad guys, they did do a good job at making them extremely sleazy - I genuinely did dislike them. The movie probably doesn't need to be as long as it is, mind you. All in all, not a bad flick but one that didn't quite do enough for me.
