Reign

A subtly radical, confidently clever debut from Vienna’s Filmakademie student Graudenz, through whose eyes the seemingly mundane world of model railways gracefully assumes an unlikely sort of cosmic, maybe even epic, significance. Micro and macro stimulatingly intertwine as definitions of documentary and fiction dissolve to the accompaniment of apt classical music and inventive cinematography—and then a finale of Vienna vistas reveals the city anew.
