IGUALDADE JÁ! Tributo a Carlos Alberto Caó

The film tells part of the trajectory of Carlos Alberto Caó de Oliveira, a black Brazilian politician, journalist, lawyer, president of the Union of Journalists of Rio de Janeiro. He was also vice-president of UNE, having been arrested and tortured by the military dictatorship. As a Constituent Federal Deputy in 1988, he acted in the fight for civil rights, it was his amendment that determines that “the practice of racism constitutes a non-bailable and imprescriptible crime”. Directed by Filó Filho and Wanda Ribeiro, the film has the support of two reference institutions in the Brazilian Black Movement, CEAP – Centro de Articulação de Populações Marginalizadas, active in the fight against religious intolerance and racism, and the Cultne Institute, which holds the largest digital collection of black culture in Latin America.
