Venezuelan filmmaker born in Caracas in 1959. Nominated for the Goya, he has received awards in Havana, Biarritz, Cartagena, Sochi, Trieste, Berlin, San Sebastián, Sundance, and Montreal. In Venezuela, he has won the Premio Nacional de Cine, municipal award, critics’ award, authors’ award, and, on several occasions, best film, screenplay, direction, and audience award at the Mérida, Margarita, Oriente, and International Caracas festivals. With more than fifty television titles, he has worked on miniseries, feature films, and soap operas in his country, as well as in Mexico and Peru.
