Hans-Christian Ströbele was born in Halle in 1939 and has worked as a lawyer for activists and members of the left-wing student movement since the late 1960s. He also defended RAF members in court, but was excluded from the Stammheim trial. He has also been the deputy chairman of the Green Party since the early 2000s. In August 2022, he succumbed to a long-term illness at the age of 83.
