Cao Shu

Cao Shu mainly lives and works in Hangzhou, in new media art. He has taught at the China Academy of Art since 2012. Cao Shu's artworks are mainly in the mediums of animation and installation. Long term art projects are his main creative thread, with works that often criticize everyday life from a minutely detailed perspective. Solo exhibitions include Nameless and Shinippori, and his works have won such awards as the New Narrative Award from the Long Week of Short Films, and the Beijing International Short Film Festival Award for Outstanding Artistic Achievement. In 2017, Cao Shu attended the Atelier Mondial artist residency program supported by the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetica.
