Dave Thrasher

December 15, 1962 — Bristol, England, UK

David studied film at university and, as a dual national, started his career in the USA before joining the BBC. During his time at the BBC David worked on award winning music and arts, history, natural history and drama productions. He soon realised his passion lay in editing drama and left the BBC to pursue this.

David has edited feature films including the award winning Swallows & Amazons and the acclaimed independent movie The Stolen along with many high profile TV dramas including Five Daughters, Witness for the Prosecution, Cider with Rosie and the Jimmy McGovern series Banished.

David was asked to cut the first few BAFTA winning episodes of Call the Midwife and was pivotal to its structure. It has since gone on to be a global hit.

David has also edited several short films including the Oscar shortlisted Love at First Sight (starring John Hurt and Phyllida Law) David is a member of BAFTA and has held editing Masterclasses for both BAFTA and the RTS. He has also sat on voting juries for both organisations.
