Joël Jent

January 14, 1983 — Wetzikon, Switzerland

Joël Jent was born in Switzerland in 1983. He grew up in a Christian cult. The day he turned 18 he packed his belongings in a bag, threw it on his motorcycle and took off into an uncertain future. He studied film, political science and history at University of Zurich (Master of Arts, 2010). Joël Jent writes and directs documentary and fiction films (e.g. EATING THE SILENCE, VIVRE LE PIANO and DÉSAMOUR) and is a winner of the SSA grant (Société Suisse des Auteurs). Since 2003, he has written and produced short- and feature films. Joël Jent is alumni of the Zurich Film Festival Academy (2006), EFP Producers on the Move program (2016), the Hezayah Screenwriting Lab (2021) and European Social Documentary Program EsoDoc (2023). He works as an independent filmmaker in Zurich. His future is still uncertain.
