Virgil Calotescu was a prolific Romanian film director, known for his extensive work in both documentary and feature films. He graduated from the Faculty of History at the University of Bucharest in 1950 and began his career at the Sahia Film studio, debuting with the documentary Daruri smulse naturii in 1952.
